Karen is a Graphic Designer and graduate of UIUC. She is exceptionally close with her whole family, especially her incredible sister and awesomely wonderful parents. She loves her moose-of-a-dog Kody, penguins, and fancy papers & printing. She aspires to teach Chris about colors & typography and for him to one day accept Harry Potter for what it is (and not lament over it's lack of Special Forces swooping in).
Chris was lucky enough to meet Karen at UIUC and is still shocked he was able to trick her into marrying him. He enjoys playing a wide variety of games with his buddies, target shooting, and yelling at bad horror movies. Chris is an avid reader, and thus absolutely horrible at sports. He is extremely grateful for all the wonderful people in his life, and is absolutely ecstatic to be marrying the most wonderful girl in the world.
Erika has been Karen's best friend since 6th grade, where they met in Mrs. Bean's math class. Karen noticed Erika's book cover was a black garbage bag and inquired as to that choice. Erika said she chose it because the book was garbage. It was meant to be. Since then, they've enjoyed spending quality time together coloring with chalk, running through sprinklers, and consuming copious amounts of Chinese food.
Graham, a.k.a. Grahambo, the Best Man, has been one of Chris’s best friends for years. The two of them met in Kindergarten, and then rediscovered their long lost friendship 2 years later in Cub Scouts. Graham and Chris lived together at U of I, where he saw Chris and Karen’s magical relationship begin. Graham is an amazing musician, and a great gaming and shooting buddy.
Michelle is Karen's little sister, also known as "Hot Wheels" or "Rock 'em Sock 'em." Michelle is usually away at ISU studying the magic that is theatre lighting, but often comes home to try wines and watch shows with Karen. It is Michelle's job to proof-read papers for Karen, and Karen's job to make off-color jokes at Michelle to prepare her for the real world (though if you mess with her, Karen can and will destroy you).
Catherine has had to endure her entire life having Chris as a brother, but luckily will soon have a far superior sister. When Chris and Karen became an item, it was also love at first sight for Catherine and Karen. They are already BFFs, sharing a love of penguins and extreme fear of spiders, being great drinking buddies, and just being extreme bad-***es in general.
Nicole is Karen's awesome cousin and UIUC BFF. Nicole inspired Karen to go to UIUC, where she met Chris, so really, Nicky can be credited for this marriage. Nicole introduced Karen to Legends, dunking loaded fries in ranch, Pokey Stix, the MAC and Coach. She also taught Karen how to not drink a beer in a bar with the hand with the underage "X" on it facing the bar. Karen wouldn't be half the woman she is today without her.
Kim is also Karen's awesome cousin. She is always there for Karen, and you'd definitely want her on your side in a fight- she would not stand for anyone picking on Karen (or Michelle, too). She is always sure to remind Karen of the day Karen was born, as her mom (and Karen's Godmother) ran around the house at 5am shouting the news. Kim has also taught Karen the ways of the photo bomb, as she is the queen of them.
Mike has been friends with Chris, surviving camping through the sub-freezing temperatures of Klondike and the hot, humid, moth infested Camp Owasippe. They met through Cub Scouts, and have had each other’s back ever since. Mike’s always been a great friend, and the kind of guy that will pick you up from school 1 1/2 hours away just to be helpful and won’t expect anything in return (except to help him move 4 times).
Max and Chris bonded over the most mature of things, arguing about Star Wars and RPG’s. Both being nerds with a mutual love of Firefly, their friendship clicked immediately in Freshman year of High School. Max is a fencing lawyer-in-training and all around great guy who will let Chris use his SCUBA equipment to feel cool, and tell Karen she’s good peoples (until she tells him how cars explode by shooting the gas tank).
Scott met Chris through Max, and the two have been friends ever since. One of the members of the original High School gaming ‘Cult,’ he’s a great guy who’s always up hanging out and discussing the nuances of Doctor Who. Scott has been a great friend to both Karen and Chris during their relationship, and is known to both be an awesome cook and is only a bad friend when he beats Chris to getting a Calliope. (Kidding!)
Lengkimly has been friends with Chris since High School, but they really bonded in College. Lengkimly introduced Chris to craft beer, and was likewise introduced to gaming, a real even exchange of ideas fostered by the college environment. Since then Lengkimly has whole heartedly embraced the crew’s nerddom and random expeditions to rural Wisconsin, home of swarming mosquitos and depressing casinos.
Miss Katelyn (a.k.a. 'Super Peanut') is Erika's daughter and Karen's coolest (and only) niece. Kate really digs her Auntie Karen, and she frequents Karen's house to play castle and drink juice. Katelyn is highly talented, singing Mulan songs in showers and doing a mean Schwarzenegger impersonation. She loves the color purple, dinosaurs (particularly The Land Before Time), and overall being a princess.
Mikey is the Ring Bearer, Chris’s Godson, and Mike’s crazy son. He’s a big fan of the movie Cars, showing Chris how to properly drive in video games, and stealing Chris’s clear Nerf gun because it’s oh so much better than the normal Nerf gun. That and he also likes to randomly attack Graham, but in all honesty who doesn’t? Mikey is a blast, and we’re honored to have him as part of the wedding.
